However, placed on the taskbar quicklaunch it is handy for lots of things. I had much the same reaction as you did at first. I know no one here likes it, but i just started using xplorer2. This is not off topic because part of the problem with many solutions is that default icons are no good at task bar size (16×16 pixels). One advantage (a big one, I think) that I have is that I bit the bullet and mastered XP icon creation and modification. Some people don’t know, but folders can be an icon in the task list, or the start menu. This will double the height of the taskbar, but leave you with a full empty row for buttons for active windows. I have 44 icons all in a single row for which a single click will invoke their function. The quicklaunch built in to windows provides one click access from the taskbar. However how I am currently exploring meets some of your needs. It uses the 2 freeware dos programs, verset and acd here isĮ:\xplorer2\xplorer2.exe /2 /P %cdir% %cdir1%Īnd you are taken to the directory(ies) that startįirst of all I am a computer goof-off and have no idea what Tortoise Most important for me I created a batch file that lets me use xplorer2’s command line to instantly change to any directory (ro pair of directories) I want by typing in just the partial name of any directory. By placing the single/double pane as a tool icon you can run it with one pane mostly and only use 2 when needed. It has a command line,įavorites that can be invoked with hotkeys, and a toolbar that where you can place selected menu options. I know what you mean about TC – so powerful, so ugly.Ĭurrently I find xpplorer2 configured right and supplimented to be a tolerable improvement, but I do not like the closed minded attitude of the creater. Or another approach, setting up groups on the context menu, can be achieved with File Targets from Moon Software. plugins.php, but dirkey has a plugin for explorer and another for MS Office apps that make the file save / file open a lot quicker. You can also open bookmarked folders in a new Explorer window. All bookmarks are global and are preserved when you turn your computer off. You can go to any bookmarked folder by using Ctrl+0.9 in the same or another supported window. an Open/Save File dialog and a bookmark will be set on the current folder. When Dirkey is active you can press Ctrl+Alt+0.9 in e.g. You can set and go to these bookmarks using your keyboard or your mouse. When you combine 2Xplorer with Dirkey, you get a lot of what you want.ĭirkey is a small utility that enables you to define bookmarks for folders and go back to these bookmarked folders from within File Open/Save dialogs and Windows Explorer.
